The NUT Chairman, Comrade Baffa Ibrahim Garko appealed to the Governor to give urgent consideration to the following key demands:

The release and payment of school upkeep funds for public secondary schools across Kano State to support effective school administration.

The payment of Duty Post Allowances to secondary school principals and their vice principals, in line with the benefits currently enjoyed by their counterparts in primary schools.

The harmonization of salaries between primary and secondary school teachers in Kano State to ensure fairness and equity in the teaching profession.

In response, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf assured the NUT Chairman that the issues raised would receive careful attention and consideration. The Governor also commended the union’s leadership for its continued commitment to promoting the welfare of teachers and wished the Chairman success in his efforts.

The meeting reflects the NUT’s continued advocacy for improved working conditions and enhanced welfare for teachers, with the expectation that addressing these concerns will further strengthen the education sector in Kano State.
