KANO POLICE COMMAND HANDS OVER TWO RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLES TO OWNERS, ARRESTS ONE SUSPECT
The Kano State Police Command has successfully recovered two stolen motor vehicles and handed them over to their rightful owners, following intelligence-led operations by the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) of the Command. This breakthrough is in line with the sustained intelligence-led and community-centred policing strategies of the Inspector-General of Police, *IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM.
CASE 1: RECOVERY AND HANDOVER OF WHITE TOYOTA HILUX IN KANO:
On 26th July, 2026 at about 2235hrs, one Zaiyyad Farouk ‘m’ of Hotoro Quarters reported that his driver, parked his White Toyota Hilux Motor Vehicle with Reg No. KMC 25 along Lamido Crescent, Tarauni LGA. On returning, the vehicle was discovered to have been stolen by unknown persons.
Upon receipt of the report, operatives of the Special Intervention Squad swung into action. Through diligent follow up, sustained effort, the stolen vehicle was trailed and recovered in the possession of one Abdussalam Salisu ‘m’ of Kurna Asabe Quarters, Kano.
The recovered Toyota Hilux has been handed over to the rightful owner after proper verification. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and his accomplices. Investigation is still ongoing.
CASE 2: RECOVERY AND HANDOVER PROCESS OF BLACK HYUNDAI ELANTRA LINKED TO INTER-STATE SYNDICATE:
On 10th July, 2026, intelligence revealed that a Black Hyundai Elantra Vehicle without registration number was stolen at Annur Mosque, Abuja. Acting on the intelligence, operatives of the Special Intervention Squad tracked the suspects. On 22nd July, 2026 at about 2100hrs, during a coordinated tactical operation in Dutse LGA, Jigawa State, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on sighting the Police.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect is a member of a notorious syndicate terrorizing Abuja, Kaduna and Kano States. The recovered Hyundai Elantra has been processed and is being handed over to the rightful owner in Abuja. Operatives have intensified efforts to arrest the fleeing suspect and his receivers in order to recover more exhibits and dismantle the syndicate.
The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, *CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, SFIPMA, MNIM, MNIPS, MASIS*, has commended the officers and men of the *Special Intervention Squad* for their professionalism and swift action that led to these recoveries and the arrest.
CP Bakori reiterated the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property through proactive and intelligence-driven policing. He urged members of the public to secure their vehicles and provide timely information to the Police. He further assured that the Command will continue to pursue all fleeing suspects and ensure they are brought to book in accordance with the law.
