KANO POLICE COMMAND ARRESTS FIVE SUSPECTS OVER UNAUTHORIZED ADMINISTRATION OF LOCALLY MADE MEDICINE

The Kano State Police Command wishes to inform members of the public and set the record straight contrary to social media reportage on the above subject matter. The unauthorized activity had earlier attracted public outcry and complaints from concerned members of the community.

On 04/08/2026 at about 0900hrs, operatives of 52 PMF, Chalawa, Kano intercepted six male suspects attached to Brother Paul Legacy Foundation at ECWA Church, located behind No. 52 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Base, Challawa Kano.

The suspects led by one Simon Gbaaondo, ‘m’, 50 years old, of Karu, Nassarawa State were intercepted while administering unverified and unauthorized locally made medicine as free and also for sale to a large crowd of members of Panshekara Communities who were trooping to the church, without clearance from relevant health regulatory agencies.

The person who hosted the suspects on the Church premises was equally invited to assist with investigation into the circumstances surrounding the unauthorized activity.

The case was reported at Panshekara Police Division and has since been transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, CID, Kano where the five suspects are currently undergoing thorough investigation.

The Kano State Police Command under the leadership of CP IBRAHIM ADAMU BAKORI, PhD, SFIPMA, MNIM, MNIPS, MASIS warns individuals and organizations against administering drugs, locally made medicine, or conducting medical outreaches without due authorization and verification from the State Government, NAFDAC and other relevant health authorities. Such acts pose serious health and security risks to the public, especially when large crowds are involved.

The Command remains committed to ensuring the safety, security and well-being of all residents and will not condone any activity capable of endangering public health or public order.

Members of the public are advised to report any suspicious medical outreach or distribution of unverified medicine to the nearest Police Station.
