Kano Appoints 19 Permanent Secretaries, Redeploys 14 in Civil Service Shake-Up

The Kano State Government has approved the appointment of 19 new permanent secretaries and the redeployment of 14 serving permanent secretaries across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in a move aimed at strengthening public service efficiency and improving service delivery.

The Head of Civil Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu-Maimota, announced the appointments in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Public Enlightenment in the Office of the Head of Civil Service, Rukayya Uba-Sulaiman.

According to the statement, the appointments reflect the state government’s commitment to repositioning the civil service for greater efficiency, professionalism and effective implementation of its development agenda.

The Head of Civil Service described the appointments as a call to higher responsibility and selfless service, urging the newly appointed and redeployed permanent secretaries to justify the confidence reposed in them.

She directed all affected officers to work closely with their respective ministries, departments and agencies in advancing the administration’s policies and programmes while ensuring improved service delivery to the people of Kano State.

Shehu-Maimota also charged the appointees to discharge their responsibilities with diligence, professionalism, integrity and accountability.

She expressed confidence that the officers would uphold the core values of the Kano State Civil Service through excellence, transparency, innovation and dedication to public service.

The statement further directed that all handing-over and taking-over processes arising from the appointments and redeployments should be concluded on or before August 12, adding that the changes take immediate effect.

The appointments and redeployments are expected to inject fresh leadership into key ministries and agencies as the state government intensifies efforts to improve governance, policy implementation and public service performance across the state.
