ANCOPSS Kano Applauds Governor Yusuf for Sponsoring Principals’ Capacity-Building Workshop

The All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Kano State Chapter, has commended the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for sponsoring a three-day capacity-building workshop aimed at enhancing the administrative and leadership capabilities of secondary school principals across the state.

The workshop focused on critical areas such as anti-corruption practices, financial discipline, transformational leadership, and workplace ethics. It was designed to strengthen professional competence and promote best practices among school administrators within the Kano State civil service.

Speaking on behalf of the association, the State President of ANCOPSS, Comrade Hajiya Uwani Ahmed Balarabe, described the initiative as a significant milestone in the development of the education sector. She praised Governor Yusuf for his unwavering commitment to improving educational standards and equipping school leaders with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective school management.

Balarabe noted that the governor is the first in the state to organize such a comprehensive training programme for all secondary school principals, particularly with a strong emphasis on financial discipline and ethical conduct. She added that the initiative reflects the administration’s determination to reposition the education sector and improve learning outcomes across Kano State.

She further disclosed that participants received adequate welfare support during the workshop held in Kaduna State, including quality accommodation, feeding, and access to healthcare services. According to her, the knowledge gained will play a crucial role in revitalizing the education system in the state.

“The training, held from March 26 to March 28, 2026, marks the first phase of a four-part programme, with the remaining phases to be conducted in due course,” she stated.

Balarabe urged participants to cascade the knowledge acquired to other school administrators, particularly vice principals, to ensure wider impact and improved school management practices across the state.

The association also expressed appreciation to key government officials for their roles in organizing the workshop, including the Head of Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, who represented His Excellency, the Executive Governor; the Chairperson of the Civil Service Commission, Hajiya Ladidi Garko; the Secretary to the State Government (SSG); members of the State Executive Council; the Permanent Secretary, Protocol; the Permanent Secretary, REPA; the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education; and the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSSMB).

ANCOPSS also commended all participating principals for their dedication, discipline, cooperation, and exemplary conduct throughout the workshop.

The initiative is widely regarded as a major step toward strengthening institutional leadership and promoting accountability in Kano State’s education sector.
