PCACC Recovers Government Vehicles from Former Kano Commissioners Over Non-Compliance
Kano, February 26, 2026 – The Kano State Government (KNSG) has commenced the recovery of government-owned vehicles from some former commissioners who failed to return them after leaving office, in a move aimed at safeguarding public assets and enforcing administrative regulations.
Reports indicate that the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), Comrade Sa’idu Yahaya, led the recovery operation on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
According to the Commission, the Office of the Secretary to the State Government had earlier issued formal notices directing the affected former officials to return all government vehicles in their possession. However, some of them reportedly failed to comply with the directive, prompting the Commission to initiate an official recovery process.
List of Former Commissioners Affected
The vehicles were recovered from the following former commissioners:
Former Commissioner for Security, Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Umar
Former Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso
Former Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata
Former Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Adamu Aliyu Kibiya
Former Commissioner for Special Duties, Nasiru Sule Garo
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to taking firm measures to protect government property and ensure transparency, accountability, and integrity in the administration of public affairs in Kano State.
The development comes as the state government intensifies efforts to strengthen institutional mechanisms that guarantee proper use of public assets and prevent any unauthorized or unlawful possession of government property.
