One Kano Agenda Condemns Threats Against Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Backs Legal Action Against Online Misconduct

One Kano Agenda (OKA) strongly condemns the viral video circulating on social media in which certain individuals, many of whom are reportedly not indigenes of Kano State, made inflammatory remarks, threats, and unfounded accusations against the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin. Such reckless conduct is unacceptable, undermines democratic values, and unfairly tarnishes the peaceful image and longstanding reputation of Kano State and its people. We therefore call on the Kano State Government, security agencies, traditional institutions, and all relevant stakeholders not to treat this matter with levity, but to take appropriate lawful measures to deter similar acts capable of threatening public peace and social cohesion.

One Kano Agenda wishes to state unequivocally that Kano has always been known for its rich culture of respect, civility, and responsible political engagement. We will not tolerate acts of intimidation, abuse, or reckless behaviour by individuals seeking to create unnecessary tension or drag the name of our state into disrepute. While every citizen has the constitutional right to express opinions, such freedom must be exercised responsibly and within the confines of the law.

Regarding the matter involving the TikTok content creator popularly known as Soja Boy, we acknowledge that some concerned youths have already approached the court to seek legal redress. One Kano Agenda fully supports the decision to pursue lawful remedies rather than resorting to self-help or public disorder. We commend this responsible approach and reaffirm our readiness to provide any legitimate support and assistance necessary within the bounds of the law to ensure that justice is served.

One Kano Agenda remains committed to promoting peace, responsible civic engagement, and the protection of Kano State’s dignity and reputation. We urge all residents, especially young people, to reject hate speech, incitement, and actions capable of disrupting public order, while allowing the appropriate authorities and the judiciary to discharge their constitutional responsibilities without interference.
