KANO POLICE COMMAND RECORDS MAJOR BREAKTHROUGHS: RECOVERS SUSPECTED STOLEN SOLAR INVERTERS WORTH MILLIONS OF NAIRA, ARRESTS SUSPECTS IN ₦10.2M ARMED ROBBERY CASE
The Kano State Police Command has recorded two major operational successes within 48 hours through proactive policing by the *Sharada Police Division* and the *Special Intervention Squad (SIS)*. These achievements reflect the Command’s commitment to *sustained follow up, intelligence-led and community-centred policing* in line with the directive of the *Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM*.
*1. RECOVERY OF 160 SUSPECTED STOLEN SOLAR INVERTERS WORTH ₦59.2 MILLION*
On *29th July, 2026 at about 1425hrs*, detectives attached to *Sharada Police Division* acted on reliable information received from a community policing stakeholder. The information revealed that one *Abdullahi Isah ‘m’, 43 years old*, was advertising large quantities of solar inverters at a suspiciously cheap rate.
The suspect was immediately arrested. A follow-up search led to the recovery of *One Hundred and Sixty (160) pieces of 6.5KW/48V Solar Inverters* valued at *Fifty-Nine Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira (₦59,200,000)*. The exhibits were recovered from an uncompleted building located at *Haye Quarters, along Western Bypass Road, Kano*. The items are *reasonably suspected to have been stolen*.
The Command therefore *calls on members of the public who own or may have lost solar inverters of similar description to come forward and report at Sharada Police Division, or contact the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) on 08067272300* for possible identification and recovery.
Investigation is ongoing to identify the source of the items and possible accomplices. The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
*2. ARREST OF SUSPECTS IN ARMED ROBBERY AND RECOVERY OF 6 FUEL DISPENSING MACHINES*
In a separate case, on *25th July, 2026 at about 0215hrs*, armed robbers attacked *Jajire Filling Station* situated at *Aku Village, along Maiduguri Road, Gaya LGA*. The hoodlums overpowered and tied the security guards, locked them inside the security room, and stole *Six (6) Fuel Dispensing Machines* valued at about *Ten Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira (₦10,200,000)*.
The matter was reported to the Police on *25th July, 2026 at about 1145hrs*. Upon receipt of the complaint, operatives of the *Special Intervention Squad (SIS)* swung into action and trailed the suspects.
Consequently, on *29th July, 2026*, SIS operatives arrested *three suspects* in connection with the case. The suspects are *Bishir Abubakar ‘m’, 60 years, of Gafai Ward, Katsina State; Shamsu Abdullahi ‘m’, 30 years, of Kofar Kaura Ward, Katsina State; and Alhaji Shamsu Lawan ‘m’, 56 years, of Filin Polo, Katsina State*.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to having purchased the stolen fuel dispensing machines from one *Usman Ibrahim ‘m’* of Kaduna State, who is currently at large, at the sum of *Five Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira (₦5,200,000)*.
Efforts are being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspect and recover the exhibits. Investigation is ongoing and the arrested suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion.
The Commissioner of Police, *CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, SFIPMA, MNIM, MNIPS, MASIS,* has commended the Divisional Police Officer of Sharada Division and the Commander of SIS for their professionalism and swift response.
CP Bakori reiterated that the Command will not relent in its efforts to dismantle criminal networks and recover stolen properties across the State. He also appreciated members of the public and community policing stakeholders whose timely information led to the recovery of the suspected stolen items.
The CP further urged residents to be wary of patronizing goods at suspiciously low prices and to always report suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station.
