The Councillors’ Assembly of the Kano Municipal Local Government and its environs has suspended three councillors over allegations of failing to complete projects assigned to them and neglecting the needs of the communities they represent.
The Chairman of the Councillors’ Assembly, Hon. Yahaya Abdullahi Baba Mai Duniya, disclosed this to Arewa Updates.
He said the suspended councillors are Hon. Aliyu Tukur Bello, representing Tudun Wuzirci Ward; Hon. Auwalu Salisu Iyammadu, representing Zango Ward; and Hon. Kamalu Baba Kusa, representing Jakara Ward.
According to the chairman, the suspension followed allegations that the councillors failed to complete some projects assigned to them by the state government, with each project reportedly valued at approximately ₦10 million.
He explained that the Assembly had constituted a five-member committee to investigate the allegations against the suspended councillors and submit its findings to the Assembly for appropriate action.
However, Hon. Kamalu Baba Kusa, the councillor representing Jakara Ward, rejected the allegations and the decision to suspend him.
He said they would take appropriate legal action in response to the matter.
