Kano Finalizes Plans for 2026 May Day Celebration in Partnership with Labour Unions,NUT First.

The Kano State Government, in collaboration with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), and Trade Union Congress (TUC), has concluded arrangements to host a successful 2026 Workers’ Day celebration.

This was disclosed by the Head of Civil Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, during a preparatory meeting with the Honourable Commissioner for Information, labour union representatives, and other key stakeholders.

Hajiya Maimota affirmed the government’s commitment to organizing a befitting and inclusive May Day event that recognizes the invaluable contributions of workers to the development of Kano State. She noted that the strong collaboration between the government and labour Unions especially NUT underscores a shared commitment to promoting workers’ welfare, unity, and productivity.

According to her, the celebration will provide an opportunity to appreciate the resilience, dedication, and sacrifices of civil servants and the broader workforce. She also assured that adequate logistical and security arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth and successful event.

The Head of Civil Service commended the leadership of the NLC, JNC, and TUC for their continued cooperation and partnership, emphasizing that such synergy is vital for sustaining industrial harmony and progress in the state.

In their separate remarks, labour union representatives and the Honourable Commissioner for Information reaffirmed their readiness to work closely with the government to ensure a successful celebration.

Hajiya Maimota therefore called on all workers and stakeholders to actively participate in the 2026 May Day celebration as part of efforts to strengthen unity and advance workers’ welfare in the state.
