GOVERNOR ABBA TO DEFECT TO APC ON MONDAY, JANUARY 5, 2026

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, is set to officially join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, according to a report by DAILY NIGERIAN.

Governor Abba Yusuf, who is currently the only serving governor under the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has already arrived in Abuja to finalize preparations for his defection.

Sources familiar with the development told DAILY NIGERIAN that Vice President Kashim Shettima and the APC National Chairman, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, will receive the governor in Abuja.

Reports also indicate that APC leader in Kano, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has already returned from a trip to Dubai in anticipation of the event. Similarly, Kano APC State Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, has been instructed to cut short his Umrah pilgrimage to present the party membership card to Governor Abba Yusuf at his polling unit in Diso Ward, Gwale Local Government Area, later this week.
