2027: Activist Hails Waiya’s Role in Abba’s Grassroots Mobilisation

By Abdu Saidu

A political activist, Comrade Abubakar Sa’ad, has commended the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, for his sustained engagement with grassroots stakeholders in support of the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Sa’ad said Waiya had remained accessible to youths, students, women’s groups, political stakeholders and other members of the public through regular interactions and engagements.

“Politics in Kano is noisy, Everyone has a complaint, a requests or a grievance. What sets Comrade Waiya apart is his open door. He listens, engages and seeks solutions.”

— Comrade Abubakar Sa’ad, Political Activist

Open Door, Real Engagement

The activist said the commissioner’s open-door approach had created opportunities for citizens to raise concerns, seek clarification and interact with the government.

A Strong Voice for the Administration

He also commended Waiya’s role in communicating government policies and responding to public concerns, describing him as an active voice in the administration’s engagement with citizens.

Grassroots Contacts Beyond Office

According to Sa’ad, Waiya has continued to maintain contact with political and community members at the grassroots while carrying out his official responsibilities.

Dogged Fighter for the People

He described the commissioner as a “dogged fighter” for the administration, saying Waiya had remained active in explaining government policies and addressing concerns surrounding their implementation and public understanding.

“Waiya does not wait in the office for problems to come. He goes to where the people are, listens to them and engages them,” he said.

Important for 2027

Sa’ad said sustained engagement with grassroots stakeholders would become increasingly important as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Elections are not won on radio alone. They are built through trust, structure and sustained engagement with the people,” he said.

Humility and Accessibility

The activist also praised Waiya’s humility and accessibility, saying the commissioner had maintained cordial relationships with people across different political and social backgrounds.

He described the approach as one that had helped create a channel of communication between the government and sections of the public.

A Bridge Between Government and the People

Sa’ad urged Waiya to sustain the engagement as the government continues to implement its programmes.

“As we move towards 2027, Kano needs more hands that listen, serve and remain connected to the people,” he said.

He prayed for Allah to continue to grant Waiya wisdom and strength in the discharge of his responsibilities.

Grassroots Engagement … A Stronger Kano … A Brighter 2027
