The Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), in collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Kano State Wing and the PLANE organization, has commenced a special training programme for 4,315 newly recruited teachers. These teachers were employed by the Kano State Government in 2025 to strengthen the quality of basic education across the state.

The training is being conducted simultaneously in several centres across Kano State. One of the venues visited on Monday, 5th January 2026, was Dukawuya Girls Science Project School in Gwale Local Government Area, where teachers from Gwale, Madobi, and Kumbotso LGAs were undergoing training.

Other centres include the Takai cluster, which comprises teachers from Takai, Albasu, and Sumaila LGAs, as well as additional centres in Gaya, Dawakin Kudu, Karaye, and others.

A large number of the invited teachers were in attendance and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to enhance their teaching skills. They commended the Kano State Government under the leadership of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Alhaji Yusuf Kabir, for the initiative.

Special appreciation was also extended to the NUT State Chairman, Comrade Baffa Ibrahim Garko, for his unwavering support and efforts in securing their recruitment.
