In the heart of Northern Nigeria, Kano stands not just as a center of commerce, but as a sanctuary of Islamic scholarship and moral authority. For any government to succeed in this terrain, its policies must resonate with the values preached from the pulpit. Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the “Kano First” agenda has emerged as a blueprint for development. However, the soul of this agenda lies in its ability to unite the state with its most influential stakeholders, the Ulama and the Clerics.

At the forefront of this sacred and strategic synchronization is Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the Honorable Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs. By virtue of his tireless engagement with the religious community, he has earned the mantle of the “Limamin Kano First” the leader and coordinator of the people’s agenda.

Governance is most effective when the leaders and the led speak the same language. Comrade Waiya recognizes that the Imams and Clerics are the primary custodians of public trust. By initiating constant dialogue with various religious sects and the Council of Ulama, he has ensured that the “Kano First” philosophy prioritizing education, healthcare, and urban renewal is not seen as a mere political slogan, but as a collective moral duty.

What distinguishes Comrade Waiya as the Limamin Kano First is his approach. He does not treat the Ulama as occasional guests for state functions; he treats them as partners in progress. Whether it is discussing the 30% education budget allocation or the transformative Kano Metropolitan Rail project, he ensures the religious community is well informed. This transparency prevents misinformation and fosters a “Safe Nigeria” environment where peace is maintained through mutual respect.

Kano is a melting pot of diverse support groups, Kannywood professionals, and political allies. Yet, it is the spiritual guidance of the Clerics that provides the moral compass for these groups. Comrade Waiya has successfully brought these seemingly different worlds together under one umbrella. His ability to stand before the Ulama, the youth, and the artisans, speaking with clarity and sincerity, is the hallmark of a true bridge builder.

The title “Limamin” is one of leadership, direction, and trust. As the Kano First agenda moves toward its 2027 milestones, the role of a central coordinator who can speak to the hearts of the religious community is indispensable. Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya has proven to be that coordinator.

Through his office, the Ministry of Information has become more than a mouthpiece for the government; it has become a bridge. By honoring the Ulama and integrating their wisdom into the state’s communication strategy, Waiya is ensuring that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s legacy is built on a foundation of unity, faith, and progress.

Kano is moving forward, and with the Limamin Kano First at the helm of information management, the bond between the state and the sanctuary remains unbreakable.
