During a monitoring visit to the Dukawiya training cluster in Gwale LGA, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Malam Yusuf Kabir, stated that the training is aimed at equipping the new teachers with essential pedagogical skills, classroom management techniques, lesson planning strategies, learner-centered teaching methods, and the promotion of professional ethics.

Malam Yusuf reminded the participants to strictly observe government regulations and the Civil Service Code of Conduct. He cautioned against the use of corporal punishment, intimidation, or any form of threat to pupils, describing such practices as unprofessional and detrimental to effective learning.

He emphasized that teaching is a noble profession grounded in compassion, and highlighted the vital role of teachers in nurturing future leaders and nation builders.

He also encouraged the teachers to pay close attention throughout the training and to apply the knowledge gained in their respective schools to ensure quality education delivery.

“Whatever you learn here should build on what you already know and serve as a guide to help you perform effectively in your schools,” he stated.

Malam Yusuf further revealed that the state government has approved the recruitment of an additional 4,000 teachers. He noted that subsequent recruitment exercises will be conducted through Computer-Based Tests (CBT), reflecting the government’s commitment to modern, technology-driven recruitment processes.

He commended the Kano State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for prioritizing education and consistently recruiting teachers at a time when many other states are not.

Earlier, the Director of Teacher Development at SUBEB, Hajiya Hauwa Tanimu, outlined the objectives of the training and clearly stated the expectations of the Board from the newly engaged teachers.

The participants expressed their gratitude to His Excellency and the Executive Chairman of SUBEB for the opportunity, pledging to exceed expectations and justify the trust placed in them.

The induction training is being conducted simultaneously across various clusters in the state to ensure that all newly recruited teachers are adequately prepared with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver effective lessons and manage pupils successfully in their respective schools.

In his own remarks, Comrade Muntari Inuwa, Chairman of the 44 LGEA Education Secretaries in Kano State, expressed gratitude to God for blessing them with a dedicated leader like Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, whom he praised for restoring the glory of education in Kano.

He noted that from the onset of his administration, the Governor recruited over 5,000 teachers, and has now added another 4,315 new recruits currently undergoing specialized training. He described Governor Yusuf’s efforts as highly commendable and worthy of recognition.

The State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Baffa Ibrahim Garko, expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government under the leadership of Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf for recruiting more teachers at the basic education level and for organizing such a meaningful training in collaboration with the NUT.
