Some Kano Pensioners Appeal to Governor Yusuf to Settle Outstanding Gratuities Amid Economic Hardship
Retired civil servants in Kano State have called on Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to fulfill his promise of paying their long-overdue gratuities.
The pensioners, in a passionate appeal, urged the governor to honor his commitment, invoking both moral and religious obligations to settle the outstanding payments owed to them after years of service.
Speaking on behalf of some retirees, Comrade Malam Sani Adamu Kofar Na’isa, a former member of the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON), expressed deep concern over the prolonged delay. In an interview with E-Magazine Media Channel, he revealed that he has been retired for nearly eight years without receiving his gratuity.
He made a heartfelt plea to the governor, saying, “Your Excellency, we appeal to you to assist us by paying our entitlements, especially considering the current economic hardship we are facing.”
The retirees emphasized that many of them are struggling to cope with the rising cost of living and urged the state government to act swiftly in addressing their plight.
