NACJC STRENGTHENS COLLABORATION WITH KANO STATE POLICE COMMAND
The Kano State Police Command, on Tuesday, 8th September 2026, received members of the National Association of Crime and Judiciary Correspondents, NACJC, Kano State Chapter, on a courtesy and working visit to the State Police Headquarters, Bompai, Kano.
The visit was aimed at consolidating the existing partnership between the Association and the Command, with focus on crime, security, and justice reporting. It also provided a platform for members of the Association, including journalists covering radio, to deepen professional engagement and enhance effective communication with the Police.
In his remarks, the Chairman of NACJC, Kano State Chapter, Comrade Abubakar Haruna Galadanci, said the visit was to renew and strengthen the long-standing working relationship between the Association and the Command.
He expressed appreciation for the Command’s consistent support in providing timely and reliable information that enables accurate news reporting. He acknowledged the demanding duties of police officers and commended the Commissioner of Police for his professionalism and the Command’s prompt response to media inquiries.
Comrade Galadanci further stated that the engagement would expose members of the Association to emerging trends in crime and security reporting, as well as to the operational achievements of the Command in crime prevention and public safety.
He added that the Association deliberately included young and upcoming journalists in the delegation to enable them gain practical knowledge, experience, and confidence in professional crime and security reporting.
Also speaking, the Secretary of the Association, Yusuf Nadabo Ismail, commended the Command’s strategies in crime fighting and its commitment to maintaining security across the State.
He said:
“We appreciate this opportunity to pay this courtesy visit and further strengthen the relationship between us. The Police are the backbone of our news reporting, and we always look forward to informing the public about the successes and achievements of the Police in Kano State.”
Responding, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, SFIPMA, MNIM, MNIPS, MASIS, welcomed the delegation and described the media as a critical partner in effective policing, crime prevention, and public safety.
The Commissioner commended NACJC for the initiative and lauded the decision to involve young journalists, noting that such interactions promote professionalism and improve public understanding of policing and security matters.
He assured the Association of the Command’s continued commitment to openness, transparency, and collaboration to ensure accurate, timely, balanced, and responsible reporting that promotes peace and public safety in Kano State.
CP Bakori further noted that the media plays a vital role in building a safer and more responsible society, as public awareness of the consequences of criminal acts serves as a deterrent.
He urged the Association and other media practitioners to continue supporting the Police by disseminating credible security information and educating the public on crime prevention and their collective responsibility in maintaining peace.
Both parties agreed to sustain regular engagements, timely press briefings, prompt information sharing, and joint sensitization campaigns on crime prevention and community safety.
The visit concluded with an exchange of pleasantries and a group photograph.
