Kano Government Announces School Closure Date for Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr Break
Kano – The Kano State Government has announced that all primary and secondary schools, both public and private, will close on Saturday, March 1, 2026, for the commencement of the Ramadan fast and Eid al-Fitr holidays.
The statement explained that the decision aligns with the approved 2025/2026 academic calendar, and the break will apply to both boarding and day students.
The government directed parents and guardians of boarding school students to pick up their children from the morning of Friday, February 30, 2026.
According to the announcement, boarding students are expected to resume on Sunday, March 22, 2026, while day students will return on Monday, March 23, 2026.
It further stated that the second term will continue from Sunday, March 22, 2026, and end on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, the Kano State Commissioner for Education, urged parents and guardians to ensure strict compliance with the scheduled resumption dates.
The government also directed all public and private schools to adhere strictly to the directive, warning that appropriate action would be taken against any school that fails to comply.
In conclusion, the government expressed appreciation to parents and the general public for their continued cooperation and support for the Ministry of Education, while wishing students a successful Ramadan fast and peaceful Eid celebrations.
