Family Demands Justice After Islamic Teacher Allegedly Lynched, Calls for Probe of DOP

Grief and outrage have followed the tragic death of Malama Ummulkhairi, an Islamic school teacher and housewife, who was brutally killed in a shocking incident after being falsely accused of child abduction without any evidence.

According to reports, the deceased had left her home to attend a religious lecture but became lost and sought directions. It was at that point that some individuals accused her of kidnapping, sparking a mob reaction.

Although she was reportedly taken to a police station and some people testified that she was a well-known teacher, this did not prevent an angry group of youths from attacking her. The incident is said to have occurred in public and near a police station, where she was killed and her body set ablaze along with other items. Observers have condemned the act, questioning how such violence could occur in close proximity to a police facility.

The family of the deceased is calling on the police authorities to launch a full investigation and take action against the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the Marabar Jos area of Kaduna State. They have also demanded that those responsible for the killing be brought to justice and that compensation be paid.

Malama Ummulkhairi is survived by her husband and several children. Her death has plunged her family, students, and the wider community into deep mourning.
