IGP’S WELFARE SCHEME: CP BAKORI PRESENTS N34.3M BENEFITS TO 62 FAMILIES OF FALLEN HEROES AND OFFICERS INVOLVED IN ACCIDENTS

The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Police Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis, today, 17th September, 2026, distributed cheques under the Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident Scheme to the families and next-of-kin of Police Officers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty and to Police Officers who were victims of accidents.

The presentation ceremony, which took place at the Conference Hall of the Command Headquarters, Bompai, Kano, comprised 62 cheques for 62 beneficiaries, amounting to a total sum of N34,309,073.70 (Thirty-Four Million, Three Hundred and Nine Thousand, Seventy-Three Naira, Seventy Kobo).

The gesture is part of the welfare packages of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, aimed at cushioning the hardship and improving the welfare of families of deceased officers and officers involved in accidents while discharging their lawful duties. This is among other benefits to be enjoyed by the families of the fallen heroes under the IGP’s comprehensive welfare scheme.

Presenting the cheques on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, CP Bakori stated that the initiative is a clear demonstration that the sacrifices of the fallen heroes will never be forgotten and that the Nigeria Police Force remains resolutely committed to the welfare of its personnel, both serving and deceased.

The CP said: “The loss of these gallant officers is deeply painful, not only to their families but to the entire Force. While no amount of money can replace a life, this token is the Force’s way of showing that we stand with the families they left behind. I urge the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the benefits for the upkeep and education of the children and families of the deceased.”

He further assured that the Command will continue to prioritize the welfare of officers and men and will ensure prompt processing and delivery of all entitlements of deceased and injured personnel, noting that more welfare packages are in the pipeline for families of fallen heroes.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiary families, Malama Safiya Abdullahi Adamu, thanked the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police for the kind gesture and prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed officers and quick recovery for those who sustained injuries.

The event was attended by members of the Command Management Team, senior police officers and families of the deceased officers.
