Two Brothers Drown,Death While Fleeing Phone Snatchers in Kano

Two brothers, Sadiq Isyaku and Auwalu Isyaku, have reportedly drowned in a water channel in Kureken Sani area of Kano State while attempting to escape from suspected phone snatchers.

The spokesperson of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday in Kano.

According to him, the incident occurred on Friday after the service received an emergency call from one Muhammad Abba, reporting that the two youths had fallen into a body of water.

He explained that firefighters quickly rushed to the scene and made efforts to rescue the victims. The brothers were eventually pulled out of the water unconscious and later confirmed dead by medical personnel.

Abdullahi added that the bodies of the deceased have since been handed over to their father at Unguwa Uku.

Preliminary investigations by the agency revealed that the brothers had jumped into the water while trying to escape from suspected phone snatchers who were chasing them in an attempt to rob them.
