Progress You Can See, Future You Can Trust — Kano Moving Forward

My dear people of Kano,

We gather today with a shared belief — that Kano can be greater, stronger, and more prosperous for everyone. This belief is no longer just a dream; it is becoming reality through purposeful leadership and a working partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Under the guidance of Abba Kabir Yusuf, Kano is moving forward with a clear vision — the Kano Agenda First, a programme designed to put the welfare, growth, and prosperity of Kano people at the centre of governance.

We are seeing progress that touches real lives every day. For example, the Save the Corridor Program has been revitalizing our city roads and public spaces, ensuring orderly urban growth while protecting the environment. The ongoing construction and rehabilitation of key roads, alongside federal support for the Kaduna–Kano and Kano–Maradi rail lines, is creating new opportunities for trade, commerce, and mobility, linking Kano more efficiently to national and regional markets.

Equally important is the Society Reorientation Programme, which is educating citizens about civic responsibility, public ethics, and social harmony. This initiative strengthens our communities, promotes unity, and ensures that development goes hand in hand with responsible citizenship.

Additionally, housing schemes, healthcare expansions, and social welfare programmes demonstrate that development is not just about infrastructure — it is about improving the everyday lives of Kano people.

But let us remember: progress is a journey, not a single event. The gains we see today must be nurtured and protected. Continuity in leadership ensures that ongoing projects are completed, new opportunities are created, and stability is maintained for future generations.

Kano has always thrived because of its people — resilient traders, hardworking farmers, ambitious youth, and committed communities. With sustained cooperation between state and federal authorities, Kano can unlock even greater opportunities, strengthen its economy, and solidify its position as a centre of commerce, innovation, and growth.

I urge every citizen to stay engaged, support unity, and back policies that keep Kano moving forward. Real development happens when the government and the people work hand in hand.

Together, we can preserve the progress we have made. Together, we can build a stronger economy. And together, we can create a future filled with opportunity for every Kano citizen.

Kano’s best days are ahead of us — if we remain united, focused, and committed.
