NUT Visits New Kano Head of civil Service, Commends Prompt Salary Payments, Pledges Support for Governor Abba’s Administration
The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Kano State Wing, has paid a congratulatory visit to the newly appointed Head of Service of Kano State, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at her office at the Audu Bako Secretariat.
The State Chairman of NUT, Comrade Baffa Ibrahim Garko, led members of the union’s Standing Committee on the visit to felicitate with the new Head of Service on her appointment.
Speaking during the visit, Comrade Garko said, “We are here to congratulate you on your appointment as the substantive Head of Service of Kano State.” He added that the union is always ready to support the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and contribute to its success. He further assured that the NUT stands prepared to provide any support required by the Office of the Head of Service whenever necessary.
Garko also conveyed the union’s appreciation to the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for the prompt payment of salaries and the timely implementation of teachers’ promotions.
In her response, the Head of Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, expressed gratitude to the NUT leadership for the visit and their support. She disclosed that the Kano State Government is set to introduce specialized training on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for civil servants, particularly teachers, to enhance their capacity in modern teaching and learning methods.
She further revealed that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reinstated the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) training programme for civil servants transitioning into managerial cadre, aimed at improving leadership skills and overall efficiency in the state civil service.
The union also offered prayers for the success and guidance of the new Head of Service in the discharge of her duties.
