NUT Elevates Comrade Muhammad Abubakar Hambali to National First Vice President
The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has promoted Comrade Muhammad Abubakar Hambali from National Second Vice President to National First Vice President, in line with the union’s constitutional provisions on leadership succession and seniority-based adjustments.
Other national officers were also repositioned accordingly, following the established ranking structure of the union.

Reacting to the development, the Chairman of NUT Kano State Wing, Comrade Baffa Ibrahim Garko, expressed profound appreciation to the national leadership of NUT for elevating Hambali to the position of First Vice President. He conveyed this gratitude on behalf of all teachers in Kano State, while also thanking Almighty Allah for the milestone.
Garko further congratulated Comrade Sani Haladu Gwarzo on his promotion to Director, Schools Service at the Kano State Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSSSMB), and also celebrated Comrade Hadiza Yari on her appointment as Deputy Director of Model Schools.
In his acceptance remarks, Comrade Hambali expressed heartfelt gratitude to teachers across Kano State for their continued support and goodwill, with special appreciation to SWEC members. He urged NUT leaders across the state’s 44 local government branches to embrace unity and remain committed to the welfare of teachers.
Comrade Garko also informed teachers that the Executive Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved and directed the immediate payment of promotion to all qualified teachers. He advised teachers to maintain discipline, punctuality, and professionalism in their respective duties.
Comrade Hambali, in turn, thanked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his sustained support to the education sector, particularly for ensuring timely payment of teachers’ promotion benefits.
