NDC Urges INEC to Correct Omission of Governorship and Deputy Governorship Candidates from 2027 Election List

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to correct what it described as an error involving the omission of its governorship and deputy governorship candidates from the final list of candidates for the 2027 general elections.

In a letter dated October 13, 2026, and received by INEC on October 14, the party stated that the names of its candidates in five states had been omitted despite their lawful nomination by the party.

The NDC urged the commission to publish the omitted names within 72 hours to rectify what it described as an error.

According to the party, the affected candidates are:

Kano State: Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo and Rabiu Mustapha.

Cross River State: Okey John Upan and Archibong Stella Charles.

Kaduna State: Lalah Danfuma Tella and Sani Bashir.

Kebbi State: Mukhtar Faruk Alhaji and Ayuba Shamsudeen.

Ogun State: Odusina Bolaji Marie and Adeyemi Yunus Adesina.

The letter was signed by the party’s National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, and its National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu.

The NDC also commended INEC for its efforts towards ensuring credible and fair elections, while urging the commission to address the alleged omission promptly to safeguard the party’s participation in the 2027 electoral process.
