Kano SUBEB, UBEC Distributes Learning Materials to Pupils to Strengthen Punctuality and Attendance

The Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), has commenced the distribution learning materials to pupils across the state as part of efforts to promote access to quality basic education.
Speaking at Dukawiyya Girls Science Project Primary School, during the exercise, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Malam Yusuf Kabir, disclosed that the initiative began with ten selected schools across the Kano metropolis and will be extended to other Local Government Areas in subsequent phases.
He explained that Directors and senior officers of the Board were deployed to various schools early in the morning to monitor attendance and identify pupils who arrived promptly to benefit from the gesture. According to him, at Dukawiyya Girls Science Project School alone, sixty-seven (67) pupils who arrived early received the learning materials.
The items distributed include school bags, one dozen exercise books, one dozen pencils, and a pair of sandals to each pupil.
Malam Yusuf urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the materials and encouraged parents to ensure their children attend school early and regularly. He emphasized the importance of providing basic learning materials for children, describing it as unfortunate to find pupils attending school without even a single exercise book.
The Executive Chairman expressed his appreciation to His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his continued support and commitment to the development of basic education in the state.
He also called on individuals, non-governmental organizations (NGO’s), and well- to do members of society to support educational development, stressing that children can only excel in an environment with qualified teachers, adequate learning materials, and conducive facilities.
