Kano Civil Service Opens Registration for January 2027 Promotion Examination

The Kano State Government has commenced registration for the January 2027 Promotional Examination for eligible civil servants, with the exercise scheduled to close on October 25, 2026.

The Kano State Head of Civil Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, has announced the commencement of registration for the January 2027 Promotional Examination for eligible officers in the state civil service.

According to a circular issued by the Office of the Head of Civil Service (OHCS) through the Directorate of Human Resource and Service Improvement, registration began on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, and will end on Sunday, October 25, 2026.

The circular, with reference number HCS/TS.100/SUB/62, explained that the promotional examination is part of the assessment process for determining merit-based career advancement among eligible civil servants.

All prospective candidates are required to register through the official OHCS Kano State portal at www.ohcskano.ng and pay a non-refundable registration fee of ₦1,000.

The registration process requires existing users to log in using their KANOSG numbers and registered phone numbers. Meanwhile, new users must create accounts and provide the necessary information to complete their registration.

Upon successful registration and payment, candidates are expected to download and print their examination application slips through their respective online dashboards.

The Head of Civil Service has directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to bring the contents of the circular to the attention of eligible officers and ensure strict compliance with the registration guidelines.

Eligible civil servants have also been advised to complete their registration within the stipulated period, as the circular states that late registration will not be entertained under any circumstances.

The initiative underscores the Office of the Head of Civil Service’s commitment to promoting merit, professionalism, transparency and fairness in the career progression of officers within the Kano State Civil Service.
