On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Comrade Sani Haladu Gwarzo officially assumed duty as the Director of Schools Service at the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSSSMB).

The new Director was accompanied to his office by the Chairperson of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools Kano State Chapter (ANCOPSS Kano), Comrade Uwani Ahmed Balarabe, alongside officials of the Nigeria Union of Teachers Kano State Chapter.

Comrade Uwani Ahmed Balarabe led the delegation to formally present the Director to the Executive Secretary of KSSSSMB, Rabi’u Saleh Gwarzo. In her remarks, she described Comrade Sani Haladu Gwarzo as a dedicated, courageous, and trustworthy educator who rose through the grassroots. She noted that ANCOPSS is delighted with his appointment and assured him of the full support of all principals across Kano State.

She further expressed appreciation to the Executive Secretary for his continuous cooperation and commitment to strengthening education in the state, emphasizing that all principals stand solidly behind the new Director.

In his response, Honourable Rabi’u Saleh Gwarzo stated that the appointment of Comrade Sani Haladu Gwarzo was divinely ordained, not merely a human decision. He described the new Director as a person of integrity who is taking over from the outgoing Director, Malam Abbas, who completed his tenure successfully.

The Executive Secretary highlighted the enormity of the responsibility ahead, noting that the office oversees more than 900 schools and over 20,000 teachers. He urged the new Director to work closely with other Directors and experienced administrators to further advance education in the state.

Speaking earlier, the former Director, Malam Abbas, praised Comrade Sani Haladu Gwarzo as a committed and reliable professional. He recalled that Gwarzo emerged as Kano State’s Best Principal in 2024 following an assessment exercise, adding that he is among Nigeria’s most respected principals. He expressed strong confidence in Gwarzo’s ability to shoulder the demands of the new role.

In his acceptance remarks, Comrade Sani Haladu Gwarzo thanked the government, KSSSSMB, and all teachers’ unions for the trust placed in him. He pledged an open-door policy for constructive advice and appealed to the retired Director to continue offering guidance.

He also called for the cooperation of all Directors and teachers, encouraging everyone to point out shortcomings whenever necessary, stressing that collective effort is key to achieving lasting progress in Kano State’s education sector.
