COMBATING CRIME THROUGH COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: KANO STATE POLICE COMMAND LAUNCHES SENSITIZATION INITIATIVE
In line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, *IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM,* on robust community policing, the Kano State Police Command has commenced a coordinated community-centered engagement to sensitize the public on their role in confronting crimes, including thuggery and illicit drug trafficking.

2. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori PhD, has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to embark on massive public sensitization through visits to Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders, Community Leaders, Town Hall Meetings, Schools Visit, Sporting Activities, and expanding Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) across the State. This follows the ongoing community-based engagements being carried out at the Command’s level.
3. Various community-based engagements are ongoing at the eleven (11) Area Commands and seventy-eight (78) Divisions, yielding positive results. The Command appreciates the efforts of community leaders, stakeholders, and citizens in supporting its crime-fighting initiatives.
4. The Commissioner of Police urges citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police Station or through the Command’s emergency numbers: 08032419754, 08123821575, or 09029292926. “Together, we can make Kano a safer place,” he said.
