KOMC Presents Medal Award to Commissioner Waiya

Kano Online Media Chapel (KOMC) has presented a Medal Award to the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, in recognition of his contributions to the development of Kano State through online media platforms.

Speaking on the award, the Chapel’s Chairman, Comrade Abdulkadir Dangambo, said the Commissioner was honoured for the cordial relationship, goodwill, and strong commitment he consistently demonstrates toward journalists, as well as for promoting unity and peaceful coexistence in Kano State. He described Waiya as a dedicated and exceptional individual with a deep passion for the progress of Kano State.

According to him, this commitment was evident in the Commissioner’s firm support for organizing training programmes for online journalists on the ethics and regulations of journalism, aimed at curbing the spread of unverified and unfounded reports.

In recognition of these efforts, on Thursday, 15 January 2026, the Association presented a Special Award of Honour to the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, while the Commissioner, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, was also presented with a Medal Award.
