The High Cost of Misinformation: Safeguarding Kano’s Political Peace

In a vibrant political hub like Kano, words can be as impactful as actions. When prominent figures like Alhaji Buba Galadima make reckless claims such as the allegation that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf sought to bar Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from the state they aren’t just playing politics; they are risking the peace of the people.
The prompt rebuttal by the Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, was not merely a denial; it was a necessary defense of constitutional rights. The administration has been clear: Kano is a home for all, and the right to movement is sacred.
A Distraction from Progress
Why manufacture such a narrative? The answer is simple: Distraction. While the current administration is focused on infrastructure, healthcare, and education, these baseless rumors attempt to drag the government back into the trenches of petty political warfare.
* No Evidence: No letter was written, no federal agency was contacted, and no such plot exists.
* The Burden of Proof: In a mature democracy, he who alleges must prove. Without evidence, these claims are nothing more than “mischievous imagination.”
The Path Forward
Kano cannot afford the high cost of misinformation. Our state’s stability depends on a political discourse rooted in facts, not fabrications. We must demand accountability from our leaders—not just in their actions, but in their words.
Governor Yusuf remains committed to the mandate of the people. It is time for the distractors to either provide proof for their claims or join the government in the constructive task of building a greater Kano.
