NUT Kano Not to Blame: Government Must Address Teacher Salary Disparities

Let’s set the record straight. Some individuals are wrongly blaming the Kano State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) for the salary disparities between state and local government teachers. However, the truth remains: NUT is a union, not a governing authority. It is the responsibility of the Kano State Government to implement fair and standardized working conditions and welfare for all teachers.

The NUT’s primary role is to advocate for and protect the rights of its members—not to make or enforce government policies. Misinformation and rumors should not cloud the facts. Instead, the focus should be on urging the government to take meaningful action to resolve these long-standing issues.

Teachers in Kano, stay informed. Don’t let false narratives distract you from the real challenges. Let’s unite in demanding justice, fairness, and better welfare.
