Kano Govt Denies Issuing Directive on Sallah Durbar, Urges Public to Ignore Rumours
The Kano State Government has dismissed as false reports circulating in some media outlets and on social media platforms claiming that the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, will lead the forthcoming Sallah Durbar.
The government described the claim as unfounded, stressing that no official decision has been taken regarding the matter.
This position was contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya.
According to the statement, the ongoing emirship dispute in Kano is currently before the court, and as such, all parties should allow the judiciary to carry out its responsibilities without interference or pressure arising from speculation.
The government reiterated its neutrality in the matter, stating that it has distanced itself from all sides involved in the dispute pending a final judgment that will be recognized by law.
It also called on residents to remain law-abiding and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of causing confusion or tension, especially as the Sallah celebrations approach.
The statement further urged media organizations and social media users to always verify the authenticity of information before dissemination to ensure public peace.
The Kano State Government reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining peace, unity, and stability across the state.
