Education Secretaries Reaffirm Support for Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf, Commend Education Reforms

The Forum of Education Secretaries from the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, citing the government’s remarkable commitment to revitalizing the education sector.

The pledge was made during a solidarity visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, who received the delegation on behalf of the Executive Governor.

Speaking during the visit, the Deputy Chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Nura Suleiman, who led the delegation, said the Education Secretaries deemed it necessary to align themselves with the present administration in view of what he described as the unprecedented priority accorded to education. He noted that the substantial budgetary allocations to the sector clearly demonstrate the Governor’s commitment to rebuilding and strengthening the educational system in Kano State.

Alhaji Nura further disclosed that members of the Forum played a critical role in ensuring the effective distribution of free school materials and textbooks provided by the state government, describing the initiative as a major intervention that has positively impacted schools across the state.

The Forum also commended the government for resolving the long-standing issue of delayed promotions for teachers, describing the move as a significant morale booster that has enhanced teachers’ commitment, productivity, and dedication to duty.

Reassuring the Commissioner of their total solidarity, the Education Secretaries pledged to continue mobilizing support at the grassroots level to ensure the success of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s continuity agenda.

In his remarks, Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya described education as the bedrock of societal progress and economic transformation. He emphasized that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s consistent investment in the sector is a deliberate strategy aimed at securing a brighter future for the people of Kano State.

The Commissioner acknowledged the pivotal role played by Education Secretaries in implementing government policies at the grassroots level, noting that their dedication and professionalism remain indispensable to the success of ongoing education reforms.

He highlighted that the allocation of 30 percent of the 2025 budget and 31 percent of the 2026 budget to education underscores the Governor’s determination to reposition the sector for sustainable growth and excellence.

Hon. Waiya expressed profound appreciation to the Forum for its solidarity and continued support for the administration’s “Kano First” agenda, which he said is designed to promote unity, peaceful coexistence, sustainable development, and patriotism across Kano State.
