BUBA GALADIMA’S DESPERATE OUTBURST: A FAILED SCRIPT AGAINST ABBA KABIR YUSUF AND THE DSS.

By Shariff Aminu Ahlan

The recent press briefing by the Kano State Government has once again exposed the hollowness of the allegations peddled by Buba Galadima against Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Kano State. What was presented by Galadima as a dramatic revelation has now crumbled under the weight of facts, logic, and constitutional clarity.

In his interview, Galadima attempted to create the false impression that the Kano State Government is orchestrating a crackdown on opposition voices through the DSS. However, the Government’s response was firm, detailed, and unequivocal: the allegations are baseless, malicious, and politically engineered to mislead the public and manufacture unnecessary tension.

It is both ironic and astonishing that a politician whose influence in his home state of Yobe has long diminished would seek relevance by launching reckless accusations against a sitting governor who continues to enjoy widespread support in Kano State. The attempt to drag security institutions into partisan politics is not only irresponsible but dangerous.

The administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has maintained a consistent posture of inclusivity, democratic engagement, and constitutional adherence. Freedom of expression remains protected under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. However, as rightly emphasized during the press briefing, freedom of expression does not translate into freedom to defame, incite unrest, or deliberately spread misinformation.

The recent actions taken by security agencies were not political vendettas, as falsely portrayed. Rather, they were lawful responses to credible complaints involving deliberate attempts to weaponize social media as a tool for defamation, incitement, and the spread of calculated falsehoods. No responsible government will stand idle while individuals exploit digital platforms to smear reputations and threaten public peace under the guise of activism.

The DSS, as a federal security institution, operates within its constitutional mandate. Any suggestion that the Kano State Government controls or manipulates its operations is both inaccurate and deceptive. The Director in Kano has demonstrated professionalism, neutrality, and strict adherence to the rule of law. Those found wanting, irrespective of political affiliation, are handled according to lawful procedures, not political directives.

What is particularly revealing in Galadima’s outburst is the desperation behind it. The tone, the timing, and the exaggerations suggest a coordinated attempt to regain political relevance by manufacturing controversy. Such tactics are not new in Nigerian politics. When influence fades, noise often increases.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s leadership trajectory in Kano has been marked by resilience, people-centered policies, and an unwavering commitment to governance. Even amid political realignments and shifting alliances, his popularity has remained intact and continues to grow steadily. The people of Kano are politically conscious and discerning; they understand the difference between constructive criticism and calculated propaganda.

It is regrettable that some political actors have chosen the path of sensationalism over substance. Rather than engage in issue-based discourse, they resort to inflammatory rhetoric designed to erode public confidence. This strategy underestimates the intelligence of the Kano electorate.

The Kano State Government has made it clear: opposition figures operate freely, civic engagement thrives, and the media continues to function without hindrance. These realities sharply contradict the alarmist narrative being pushed.

At the heart of this episode lies a deeper frustration. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has demonstrated independence in leadership, refusing to succumb to pressures that would compromise the state’s interests. That independence has unsettled certain political elements who thrived under old arrangements. The attempt to smear his administration is therefore less about democracy and more about disrupted patronage networks.

Kano remains committed to democratic principles, the rule of law, and peaceful coexistence. Security agencies will continue to perform their duties professionally. Citizens’ rights will remain protected, but exercised responsibly within the bounds of the law.

In the end, noise cannot overshadow performance. Fabrication cannot defeat credibility. And orchestrated allegations cannot diminish a governor whose political standing is rooted in popular legitimacy.

The people of Kano are watching. They are informed. And they are not deceived.
